CHAPTER NEWS JANUARY, 2012
1. The chapter has begin a new initiative aimed at finding quality speakers at our monthly meetings. The chapter will seek monthly volunteers to coordinate a speaker for the meeting. At the end of the year, at the Holiday Dinner, after voting by membership, the speaker voted as the most informative and interesting will be awarded $500 to share equally with the member who arranged their appearance. Executive Committee members have excluded themselves from eligibility to encourage members to participate and take an ownership role in locating quality speakers.
2. In an effort to increase attendance at the monthly meetings, the Executive Committee is seeking alternative sites for the luncheon meetings in order to reduce the cost to members, which has been a consistent concern voiced to the Executive Committee by members of the chapter. Sallie Mae will host a meeting this year and have the cafeteria vendor provide lunch at a reduced cost to members.
3.
Annual Seminar: The Executive Committee will coordinate this year's event with assistance from the interested members. Now is the time to seek speakers, vendors and sponsors for the event. The date of the Seminar is May 17, 2012 at the Dupont Country Club.
4. The Executive Committee will continue to search for ways to both increase membership and attendance at our monthly meetings and to encourage current members to "come back".
5. CPP Exam: The Executive Committee wishes to encourage members to participate in the CPP study course. Dean Vietri and Dan Roddy will coordinate a study group, provided that enough members show an interest in forming a study group.
6. Several Chapter members have expressed an interest in the Chapter having a Breakfast meeting so as to gauge interest and attendance with a time change. This will be discussed at the February Chapter meeting.
7. It has been suggested that the Chapter conduct a "Dual Group" meeting with DABS (Delaware Association of Bank Security) in an effort to share information and experiences with other security entities. Efforts will be made to coordinate such a meeting by the Executive Committee.
